Matthew 13:31-32 & Matthew 21:21-22

The crowd gathered around Jesus and Jesus told them the story of the mustard seed.

Jesus said,” One day a man sowed a mustard seed in his garden along with other herbs plants.

The mustard seed is the smallest seed of all the seeds the man sown in the garden.

But when the mustard seed grew up, it grew to be the biggest tree in the garden.

It can provide shades for people. All kinds of birds flew into the boughs of the mustard tree to make its nests there so that they could make their home in the tree. ”

Jesus continued saying, “If you have faith as small as mustard seed, you can tell this mountain to move from here to there and be thrown into the sea and the mountain will move from here to there and cast itself into the sea. Have faith in God. Nothing is impossible when you believe.”

Jesus was telling us that we don’t have to understand everything God said to put our trust in Him.

From the little bit of understanding, God will help us to grow and grow so that we can know God more and more and our faith will grow up as well just like the mustard tree that have grown to be the biggest tree in the garden.

The more we know about Jesus, the more we will grow to be just like Jesus.

Luke 7:11-17

One time, Jesus went in to a city called Nain with his disciples. Large crowd were also following Jesus.

As Jesus was about to enter through the city gate, a dead man was carried out in a coffin.

The dead man is the only son his mother has. Her husband is dead and so she is a widow. People were following her because her son was dead.

She was crying very badly. Jesus saw the widow at Nain and had pity on her. Jesus said to the widow, “Don’t cry anymore.”

Then Jesus came and touched the open coffin. The people who were carrying the coffin stopped and stood still.

Jesus said to the dead man, “Get up.”

Suddenly, the dead man became alive. He started to breathe and he sat up in his coffin. The man started to talk. Then Jesus showed the man to his mother.

Fear fell on everyone and they gave praises to God.

The people said among themselves, “There is a great prophet in the midst of us. God has come to his people.”

The news about Jesus spread through Judea and its neighboring places.

When John’s disciples told John, the Baptist the news about Jesus, John called two of his disciples and said to them,”Go to Jesus at once and ask him, ‘Are you the Messiah?’”

They came to Jesus, and asked him, “Are you the Messiah?”

At that time, Jesus had healed many people with diseases, demonic oppression, the blind and the lame.

So Jesus answered him, “Go back and tell John, ‘The blind can see, the lame can walk, the deaf can hear, and the dead is resurrected.’ And blessed is he who would suffer because of Me.”

After that, John’s messengers departed.

1 Kings 3

One day, two women brought their cases to King Solomon.

The first woman said to King Solomon, “Your Majesty, I live with this woman in the same house.

Not long ago, I gave birth to a son. After three days, the other woman also gives birth to a son.

One night, while we are both sleeping, the other woman rolled over on her bed. She pressed on her son and he died.

When she woke up, she found out her son is dead. So she took my baby and put him next to her on the bed; but she put her dead baby next to me.”

The other woman yelled, “The dead baby is hers!”

The first women quarreled back, “The baby that is alive is mine;The dead baby belong to her!”

The two women quarreled back and forth.

Then King Solomon ordered his servant, “Bring a sword!”

The servant brought a sword in. King Solomon said, “Take the sword and cut the baby in half so that both of you can have part of the baby!”

The first woman said, “Your Majesty, please don’t cut the baby in half. I would rather give the baby to the other woman than him dead. Just give the baby to the other woman.”

The second woman said, “Your Majesty, just cut the baby into half so that neither of us will have the baby.”

King Solomon said, “Give the baby back to the first woman!”

When the people heard how King Solomon had judge the case, they praised King Solomon for the wisdom that God gave him.

John 3:1-21

At that time, there was a Pharisee called Nicodemus.Nicodemus was an important man.Nicodemus was a teacher of the Jewish laws so he knows all the ways of God.

One night, Nicodemus pays a visit to Jesus.

Nicodemus said, “You must be from God because only if God is with you, you can perform these wonderful miracles.”

Jesus said, “No one can inherit the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

Nicodemus said, “How can a man be born again for a second time?”

Jesus answered, “No one can inherit eternal life if he is not baptized in the Holy Spirit.”

Nicodemus said, “I don’t understand. How can these be?”

Jesus said, “Aren’t you the teacher of the Jews? Don’t you get what I am trying to say?

No one has ever enter heaven except the son of God. Just as Moses lifted the bronze serpent on a pole so does the Son of God will be raised up into the heaven.

God loves the world so much that he gave his only Son to the world. He let his Son come down from Heaven to die for the sins of the whole earth.

If you believe me, you are not condemned but if you do not believe me, you are already condemned.

The light is already in the world, but people love to be in the darkness. If they walk in the truth, they would have wanted their deeds to be known to God.”

Nicodemus finally understand what Jesus was saying. He was very happy and he left Jesus that night praising God.

2 Kings 9:1-29

One day, Elisha called in a young prophet and says to him, “Take this bottle of olive oil with you. Go to Jehu in the town of Ramoth in Gilead now. When you found Jehu, take Jehu to a private place. Pour the olive oil on Jehu and says to him, ‘The Lord has make you king of Israel.’”

The young prophet set out for Ramoth in Gilead. When he arrives, he saw the armies were having a meeting. The young prophet says to him, “I have a message for you.”

Jehu asks, “Which one of us you are referring to?”

The young prophet answered, “I have a message for you, sir.”

Jehu arose from his seat and went out from the meeting place to a private place with the young prophet.

Then the young prophet says to Jehu, “God has chosen you to be king of Israel. God wants to destroy the family of King Ahab and Jezebel because they kill God’s prophets and His servants. God commands you to kill every person in King Ahab’s household. Jezebel will be murdered and her body will be eaten by dog until there won’t be enough left to bury her.”

After the young prophet finished speaking, he quickly opens the door and ran out.

Jehu went back to the meeting place. One of the army officers asked Jehu, “What did that mad prophet tells you?”

Jehu answered. “He says that God had chosen me to be king of Israel.”

The army officers took off their cloak and spread them out at where Jehu is standing and says, “Jehu is now king of Israel!”

King Joram was recovering from his wound at Jezreel after fighting against King Hazael. King Ahaziah was with King Joram because he is paying him a visit.

At this time, Jehu was discussing with his army officers how he can kill King Joram. After that, Jehu rode in his chariot and set out for Jezreel.

A guard in the watch tower at Jezreel saw a group of men coming that way and shouted to King Joram, “I saw a group of men coming this way.”

King Joram said, “Send a rider to ask them if it is a friendly visit.”
A soldier rode out and asked Jehu, “Is this a friendly visit?”

Jehu replied, “What do you care? Get behind me and my army.”

The guard in the watchtower saw that the rider didn’t return and said to King Joram, “The rider rode out to meet the men but he didn’t come back.”

So King Joram sent out a second rider.

The second rider asked Jehu, “Is this a friendly visit?”

Jehu answered, “Just get behind me and my army.”

The watchtower’s guard on seeing the second rider didn’t return, he said to King Jehu, “Your Majesty, the second rider did ride out but didn’t come back.”

King Joram decided to ride his chariot out and meets Jehu and his men himself.

King Joram asked Jehu, “Jehu, is this a friendly visit?”

Jehu answered, “How can this be a friendly visit when your mother Jezebel causes the people of Israel to practice idolatry and witchcraft.”

King Joram shouted to King Ahaziah, “Ahaziah, we must leave this place quickly! This is a trick.”

When King Joram was trying to run away, Jehu shot an arrow. The arrow hit the part between the shoulders of King Joram. The arrow goes through the heart of King Joram and King Joram collapsed dead.

King Joram said to his army officers, “Throw King Joram’s body into the field that Naboth once owned because God promised me that King Ahab will be punished in the same field where he had killed Naboth and his sons.”

When King Ahaziah saw these, he tried to escape but one of Jehu’s armies shot him and he fell down dead too.

King Ahaziah’s officers carried King Ahaziah’s corpse back to Jerusalem and buried him beside his ancestors.

Mark 8:1-10

At one time, a great crowd followed Jesus for three whole days and nights. The people haven’t eaten anything and they were very hungry.

Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, “I have compassion on these people who had been with me for three days. I don’t want to send them away empty stomach. If I send them away, they will pass out on the way back to their home because some of them live very far away from here.”

His disciples answered, “Where can we buy so many bread to feed such a great crowd of people?”

Jesus asked them, “How many loaves of bread do you have with you?”

The disciples answered, “We still have seven loaves of bread and few small fishes left with us.”

Jesus made the people sat down in rows. He took the bread and the few small fishes and gave thanks to God for them.

After He had blessed the food, He gave it to His disciples. The disciples then distributed the seven loaves of bread and the few small fishes among the people.

The people ate all they wanted and felt very full.

There were lots of leftovers and Jesus gave command to His disciples to pick up the leftovers. His disciples took up the leftovers and filled up seven large baskets.

The number of people that had eaten the bread and fish were 4000 not including the women and children.

After that, Jesus sent the multitude away. He climbed into a boat and sailed across to the other side of the lake with His disciples.

Luke 10:25-37

A lawyer stood up. He wanted to test Jesus.

He said to Jesus, “Teacher, what are the things that I must do so that I can have eternal life.”

Jesus asked him, “What are the greatest commandments in Moses’ Law?”

The lawyer answered, “Love your God with all your heart and soul and love your neighbor as you love yourselves.”

Jesus said, “You are correct. Do these and you shall inherit eternal life.”

The lawyer then asked Jesus, “Who are my neighbors?”

Jesus then told him a parable, “Once, there was a Hebrew man from Jericho that travel down to Jerusalem.

On the way, the robbers attack the Hebrew man. They beat him and took away all his clothing leaving him naked in the street. He was very badly wounded.

A priest came down the street, and saw the badly wounded man too but he doesn’t care about him and took the other side of the street and continue his journey.

Then, a Levite happened to pass by the street. He saw the injured Hebrew man lying on the ground. He went to take a look but he did not want to help him. The Levite ignored him and went on his way.

Finally a Samaritan happened to pass by the street. The Samaritan saw the injured man lying there on the ground and he decided to help him. He poured oil on his wounds. Then he put the man on his donkey and takes him to an inn.

He said to the inn keeper,’ Here are two denarii. Please help me to care for this man. If you spend more than that, I will pay you back when I come back.’

So, which of these three men do you think is the neighbor of the man?”

The lawyer replied, “The Samaritan.”

And Jesus said, “Now, go and do the same thing.”

Luke 11:14-23

King Herod had put John the Baptist into a prison because John, the Baptist said to Him, “You cannot take Herodias, your brother’s wife and marry her.”

After John said this, Herodias wanted to kill him but she was afraid because King Herod sided with John.

King Herod feared John and protected him because John is a holy and righteous man.

It came to pass that it was the birthday of Herodias and Herodias performed a dance before King Herod.

Herodias’ dancing pleased King Herod so much that King Herod decided to give Herodias whatever she asks of him. King Herod swore that he will give Herodias up to half of his kingdom.

Herodias went to her mother and asked, “What shall I ask King Herod to give me?”

Herodias’ mother replied, “Go and tell King Herod to give you the head of John, the Baptist on a platter.”

Herodias immediately came up to King Herod and said to him, “Give me the head of John, the Baptist on a platter.”

King Herod felt sorry for John, the Baptist but he had sworn to Herodias before the people so he cannot take back his word.

King Herod sent his executioner and commanded him to behead John the Baptist and bring it on a platter to Herodias.

The executioner did as King Herod commanded and brought the head of John, the Baptist on a platter to Herodias.

When John’s disciples heard about it, they came to carry away his corpse and buried him in a tomb.

Luke 4:1-13

After Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan River, the Holy Spirit guided Him into the desert to fast for forty days and forty nights.

At the end of the forty days, Jesus felt very hungry. The devil saw that this is an opportunity to tempt Jesus so he said, “If you are the Son of God, then tell these stones to change into bread.”

But Jesus replied, “God says that we shall not only live by bread but also by the word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Then the devil brought Jesus to the top of the temple in Jerusalem and told Him to look down from there.

The devil said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, jump down because God will tell his angels to lift you up and make sure your foot will not crush against the stone beneath.”

Jesus said to the devil, “It is written in the word of God ‘Do not tempt the Lord, your God.’”

Finally, the devil took Jesus to an extremely high place where Jesus can see all the kingdoms and their riches.

The devil said to Jesus, “Bow down and worship me and all these kingdoms and riches will be yours.”

Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! It is written in the Scripture,’ Worship and serve the Lord, your God only.’”

The devil saw that he could not deceive Jesus and so he left him alone. Then angels came to be with Jesus.

John 11:1-57

Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha was very ill. So Mary and Martha sent a messenger to Jesus, saying, “The man whom you loved is very ill to the point of death.”

When Jesus heard the message, He says, “The sickness occurs so that the name of God may be glorified.”

Jesus loved Martha, Mary and Lazarus very much.

After Jesus heard the news, he stayed at the place where he was living at that time for two more days.

Then, Jesus told his disciples, “Let us travel to Judea.”

Jesus’ disciples said to Him,” Recently, the chief priests there says that they want to stone you to death. So why do you want to go there?”

Jesus answered, “Lazarus is asleep and so I want to go there to wake him up.”

Then Jesus’ disciples said to Him, “If Lazarus sleeps, he will get well.”

Jesus answered plainly, “Lazarus is dead.”

Then Thomas said to the other disciples, “Let us go along with Jesus so that we can die with Him.”

When Jesus arrived at Bethany in Judea, Lazarus is already buried in the tomb for four days.

As soon as Martha heard Jesus had arrived, she went out to welcome Him. Mary sat at home.

Martha said to Jesus, “Why didn’t you come earlier? If you had came earlier, Lazarus could have survived. But I know that even now you can raise Lazarus from the dead.”

Jesus said to Martha, “Lazarus will be alive again.”

Martha said to Jesus, “I know Lazarus will be raised into the heaven in the end times.”

Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection, and the life. He who believes in Me will not die but he shall live. Do you believe this?”

Martha answered, “Yes. I believe you are the Christ, the son of God who had come to be the savior of this world.”

After that, Martha went back home to call his sister to go to Jesus. Mary left the home and went to meet Jesus.

When she saw Jesus, she says, “Lord, if you arrived earlier, Lazarus could have lived. Now he is dead.”

Jesus said, “Where is Lazarus buried?”

But the Jews said, “Could not Jesus who restore the eyesight of the blind, raised Lazarus from the dead.”

Jesus wept and said to, “Remove the stone from the tomb.” By this time, there is a foul smell that came out of the tomb because Lazarus had been in there for four days.

Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Lazarus, come forward!”

And Lazarus walked out from the tomb with his grave clothes and his face wrapped with a cloth.

Jesus said to him, “Unbound the grave clothes around him and let him go.”

When the people saw the miracles, they were filled with awe and put their trust in Jesus.

But some of the Jews went to tell these things to the chief priests and the Pharisees.

When the chief priest and the Pharisees heard the news, they make plans to kill Jesus.
