Parable of the Persistent Widow

October 11, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

parableofthepersistentwidow

Luke 18:1-8

Jesus tells the crowd the parable of the persistent widow so that they will always keep praying and not be disappointed until they get what they want.

Jesus said, “There lived a judge in a city who does not obey God’s command.

The judge always made unfair decision. He did not care about the people in the city whom he judge.

One day, a widow went up to the judge and says,’ Give me justice against my rival.’ The judge refused to help her.

But the judge said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t care about the people, yet this widow kept bugging me to give her justice. So I will grant her justice so that she will not come to disturb me anymore and wear me out! So it is with the kingdom of God. If you persistently keep praying for what you want, God will give it to you.'”

Jesus then spoke another parable to those who believe that they are good and others are bad.

Jesus said, “There are two men, a Pharisee and a tax collector that went up to the temple to pray.

The Pharisees prayed,’ God, I thank you that I am not like the tax collector, a sinner. I fast two times every week and I give ten percent of my earnings to God’

But the tax collector is different than the Pharisee. He stood very far off and would not even dare to look at heaven.

The tax collector said,’Please have compassion on me and forgive me for all my sins.’

The tax collector is far more justified than the Pharisee because he humbled himself. He who humbles himself will be exalted.”

People were bringing their children to Jesus so that He could bless them.

When Jesus’ disciples saw what they were doing, they rebuke them.

But Jesus said, “Let the little children comes to me for whoever has the faith like that of a child will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Acts 6:8 – Acts 7:60

Stephen was a faithful man who trusted in God. He did many miracles among the people.

Some people that came from the Synagogue of the Freedman purposely challenged and quarreled with Stephen.

But they couldn’t win over Stephen because Stephen was speaking through the Holy Spirit.

They were not satisfied and so they spread false rumor about Stephen.

This caught the attention of the elders, and the scribes. They arrested Stephen and brought him before the council.

They also set up fake witnesses who said, “Stephen condemns this holy place and Moses’ law. He claimed that Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and bring new customs that will change the law Moses had given to us.”

Everyone stared at Stephen and they noticed that Stephen’s face was like that of an angel.

The chief priests said, “Is it true?”

Stephen answered, “You stubborn people! You always try to resist the Holy Spirit just as your ancestors. In fact, your ancestors persecute all the prophets and they also put the Lord Jesus to death. You have heard the gospel but never believe it.”

When the people heard what Stephen had said, they were hurt and wanted to revenge. But Stephen who is filled with the Holy Spirit lifted his head and looked up to the heaven. Stephen saw the Lord Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

The people shouted very loudly and stopped their ears. They rush over to Stephen and throw him out of the city. Then they stoned Stephen to death.

The witnesses put their clothes at the feet of a man named Paul. As Stephen was being stoned to death, he called on to God, saying, “Lord Jesus Christ, I surrendered my spirit to you.”

Stephen knelt down and shouted, “Lord Jesus, please forgive them of what they had done to me.”

Stephen breathed his last and died. Some faithful Christians came and carried away the body of Stephen.

After they had mourned for Stephen, they buried him.

Acts 17:1-34

While Paul was preaching the gospel at Berea, the Jews from Thessalonica persuaded the people. So the brethrens sent Paul away to Athens.

However, Silas and Timothy remained at Berea. Paul came to Athens and he sent message for Silas and Timothy to meet him there.

While Paul was at Athens, he saw people worshipping all kinds of idols. So he went in to the synagogue and preaches the gospel to the Jews and Gentiles.

While Paul was at Athens, the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers brought him to the government council of Athens called Areopagus.

The Areopagus questioned Paul saying, “Can you explain to us what are you preaching?”

Paul stood among the Areopagus and said, “I perceive that the people in your city are very religious and worshipped many kinds of idols.

I also found an altar that had an inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. (King James Version: Acts 17:23)

God created everything in this world. Therefore he cannot be worshipped what the things that human made.

Now God will let you go while you worship all these idols but He already had appointed at time during the end times when He will judge everyone.

Those who do not worship Him will be thrown into Hell.

God is calling everyone in everywhere to repent from their sins.

God had confirmed that the end day judgment will come at the end times by resurrecting His Son, Jesus Christ from the dead.”

When the people heard Paul talk about Jesus’ resurrection, they do not believe.

Some of the people who believed Paul includes Dionysius from the Areopagus council and Damaris. Paul departed from them.

Matthew 13:1-9 & Matthew 13:18-23

When a huge crowd gathered around Jesus, Jesus went into a boat and told His disciples to launch the boat out not too far into the sea.

Everyone gathered at the land facing the sea to listen to Jesus. Jesus taught them many things.

Jesus told the crowd a story of the sower,”There was once a sower who sowed some seeds on the ground.

As he throws the seeds on the ground, some of the seeds fell by the way and the birds come and peck them away.

Then the sower throws some seeds on rocky and stony ground, the plant sprang up but it withered when the sun was up.

Some of the seeds fell among the thorns of the plants and never make it to a plant because it was choked by the thorns.

However, there are also some other seeds that fell on fertile soil. The seed grow up to be a fruitful plant and produced thirty, sixty and one hundred fold of fruits.”

Then Jesus said, “He who has ear let him hear and understand what I say.”

Jesus’ disciples did not understand what Jesus was saying. So when they were alone with Jesus, they asked Him to explain the story of the sower to them.

Jesus said to them, “The seeds that fell along the way are the ones who heard the gospel but did not accept it because Satan had stolen the seeds that were sown in their hearts.

The seeds that fell on the rocky and stony ground are those who heard the gospel and received it. When they are being persecuted, they reject the gospel and so they only believe for a short while.

The seeds that fell among the thorns are the ones that heard the gospel, but their worries about money and other worldly things choke their faith in God.

The seeds that fell on good ground are those who heard the gospel, accept it and bear fruits thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and one hundred fold.”

Luke 1:26-38

A very long time ago, there was a woman named Mary. One day, the angel Gabriel came to visit Mary. He came to bring Mary good news.

When Mary saw angel Gabriel came to visit her, she was afraid.

The angel Gabriel said, “Do not be afraid. May God be with you. You will be pregnant with a son and He shall be called JESUS. He will be a great king and his kingdom will never end.”

Mary answered, “How can it be that I am pregnant? I am not married yet.”

The angel Gabriel said, “You will conceive a child through the Holy Spirit. Even your sister, Elizabeth is conceived with a son in the sixth month.”

Mary said, “I am the servant of God. May it be as you said.” Then the angel left Mary.

Before Mary gave birth to the baby, she was betrothed to a man called Joseph.

Joseph is a good man. He doesn’t want to expose Mary to public disgrace and he planned to call off the wedding.

One day, Joseph has a dream. In the dream, God said, “Don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife. Mary is pregnant with a son through the Holy Spirit. The name of the baby shall be called JESUS because He will wash away the sins of the people.”

After Joseph woke up, he went ahead to take Mary as his wife. Joseph did not lay with Mary until Mary gives birth to the baby. Joseph called the baby boy JESUS.

Sheep and Goats Parable

October 11, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

sheepandgoatparable

When Jesus was with the crowd, He told them a parable about the sheep and goats. Jesus said, “In the end times, God will sit on His throne with all His glory and judge the people.

Everyone will stand before God, and He will judge them one by one. God will separate the sheep to His right side and the goats to His left side.

Then Son of Man will says to those on His right side, ‘Come, you who are being blessed. You give me water to drink when I am thirsty.

You give me food to eat when I am hungry.

When I was ill, you care for me by paying me a visit. When I have no clothes to wear, you give me a clothes to put on.

When I was locked up in the prison cell, you visited me.’

The righteous will say to Him,’ When did we give you food when you are hungry? When were you ill that we pay you a visit? When did you have no clothes to wear that we give you a clothes to wear? When did we pay you a visit when you are in the prison?’

The son of Man answered,’ Whenever you care for one of my followers, you are doing it for Me.’

Then He will say to those on His left side, ‘Go away from Me! When I was hungry, you didn’t give me any food to eat.

When I was thirsty, you didn’t give me any water to drink.

When I am naked and have no clothes to wear, you didn’t give me clothes to put on.

When I was at the prison, you didn’t pay me a visit.

When I fell sick, you didn’t pay me a visit.’

The righteous ones received eternal life but those who are sinners and did not help Me at all will go to hell. Therefore, anything that you do for one of my followers, you are doing it for me.”
