Kids Bible Lesson – Walls of Jericho

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

God said to Joshua,” Tell the priests to carry the tabernacle into the Jordan River.

When they have reach the edge of the Jordan River, give command for them to stand still in the river so that the water in the Jordan will stop flowing and stand as a heap and the Israelites may cross it.”

So it was Joshua commanded the priests to carry the tabernacle of the covenant into the Jordan.

Once the priests stepped into the edge of the Jordan River, the water was cut off and it piled up as a heap.

The priests bore the tabernacles and stood still in the Jordan River until all the people had crossed the river to the other side.

Then God said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from the twelve tribes of Israel and have them go into the river to collect a stone that it may serve as a memorial to the children of Israel.”

So Joshua chose twelve men from the twelve tribes of Israel and commanded them to take a stone from the Jordan River.

The twelve men did as Joshua said. They went into the Jordan River and carried a stone back to their camp.

Joshua then set the twelve stones up at the place where the priests stood still in the Jordan River. The twelve stones exist until today.

One day, Joshua was by the city of Jericho when he saw a man that stood opposite of him with a sword. Joshua asked him, “Are you for us or our enemies?”

The man said, “I am the Commander of the army of the Lord and have come.”

Joshua bowed down to worship Him. Joshua said, “What is it that the Lord wants to say to His servant?”

The man said, “Take off your sandals for the place where you are standing is holy.”

Joshua obeyed and took off his sandals.

Then the Commander of the Lord’s army said, “Jericho is shut up because they know the Israelites are coming to attack them. I have given Jericho into your hand.

Now you and all fighting warrior men shall march around the city once every day for six days.

The priests that carry the tabernacle of the covenant will march ahead of you.

But on the seventh day, you shall march around Jericho seven times and the priests will blow the trumpets.

When you heard the loud blasts of the trumpets, everyone must let out a great shout and the walls of Jericho will collapse. And then you can go into the city to attack them.”

So Joshua spoke to the people about it. Every day, Joshua and the fighting warrior men will march around the city once.

The priests who bore the tabernacle of covenant marched ahead of them.

Then on the seventh day, they marched around the city of Jericho seven times and the priests let out a loud trumpet blast andJoshua said, “Shout for the Lord for He has given into your hand the city!”

When the people heard the loud trumpet blast, they gave out a loud shout and the walls of Jericho fell down flat.

The men went in and kill everyone in the city and then they burned down the city into ashes.

They took the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron and consecrated to the Lord.

Everyone in the city was killed except Rahab, the prostitute and her family household who stayed in Rahab’s house.

Bible Story about Rahab Helping the Spies

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

Joshua sent two men to spy on Jericho. The two spies arrived at Jericho and came to a house where a prostitute lived. The name of the prostitute is Rahab.

Someone saw the spies and reported them to the king of Jericho. So the king of Jericho sent men to capture the two spies.

When the men came to Rahab’s house to search for the two spies, Rahab decided to help the two spies.

Rahab tricked the men, saying, “The two men did came but they had left. I don’t know where they are from. When the city gate was about to shut, the two men slipped out. If you pursue them now, you might catch up with them.”

As soon as Rahab had finished spoken to them, the men went out of the city gate to pursue the two spies sent by Joshua.

Actually Rahab had the two spies in the flax which she had arranged on the attic of her house.

Rahab said to the two spies, “I know the Lord is with the people of Israel. When the Israelites come and attack our city, please remember how I had helped you and spare me, my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters and all that we have.”

The two spies agreed that they will not kill Rahab and her family during the attack. So Rahab helped the spies to escape by letting out a scarlet cord.

The two spies said to Rahab,”When the Israelites come to attack Jericho, tie the scarlet cord on the window of your house as a mark so that we know and will pass over your house. Bring your father, mother, brothers, sisters and everything you have into the house.”

When the two spies returned to Joshua, they told Joshua everything.

When the Israelites were traveling from Mount Hor to the country of Edom through the way of the Red Sea, they become upset because there is no food and water to drink.

Then the Israelites complained to Moses that they are fed up with the Manna that God provided them as food.

The people came to Moses, and said, “Did you take us out of Egypt so that we can die of hunger and thirst in the desert? There is no food and no water that can be found in this desert. We are sick of the waterless bread manna that we eat every day. ”

The Lord God is so angry that he made the poisonous snakes to come out in the desert and bite them.

Many Israelites were bitten by the snakes and died. Some of the Israelites survived the poisonous snake bite.

The Israelites regretted about their complaints to God and they begged Moses to pray to God to make the snakes go away from them.

The Lord God said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent with bronze and put it on a pole. Then let everyone who is bitten by the poisonous to see the bronze snake so that they will be healed from the poisonous snake bite.”

Moses obeyed the Lord. He made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole.

The Israelites that were ill because of the bites from the poisonous snake took a look at the bronze snake and they were all restored to health.

Moses named the bronze snake Nehushtan.

Aaron Bible Story

One day, God said to Moses, “Take a rod from each of the leader of the twelve tribes of Israel. Write down the name of each man on the rod. Write the name of Aaron on the rod from the tribe of Levi. The rod of the man that I had chosen will be budding with almond flowers so that I will get rid of all the complaints the Israelites have against you.”

Moses spoke to the people and got the rod from each leader of the twelve tribes of Israel. Aaron’s rod was among the twelve rods.

Moses wrote the name of the leader of the twelve tribes on their rod. Then he put the rod in the tabernacle of the Lord.

The next day, Moses went into the tabernacle of the Lord and he found that the rod of Aaron was budding with almond flowers with ripe almond fruits.

Moses gave back the rod to each leader of the twelve tribes.

Then God said to Moses, “Bring back Aaron’s rod and put it in the tabernacle of witness to be kept as a sign that I will entertain no more complaints against me or they will die.”

Moses did as the Lord told him and put Aaron’s rod in the tabernacle to serve as a sign that no more complaints will be brought up to the Lord or they will die.

So the Israelites say to one another, “Surely if we come near the tabernacle of the Lord, we will die.”

12 Spies in Canaan in the Bible

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

God said to Moses, “Choose twelve men, each from one tribe of Israel, and send them to spy on the land of Canaan.”

Moses obeyed God and did as He commanded. The twelve spies who were sent out by Moses to spy out the land of Canaan are Shammua, Shaphat, Caleb, Igal, Hoshea, Palti, Gaddiel, Gaddi, Ammiel, Sethur, Nabbi and Geuel.

Moses said to the twelve spies, “Go into Canaan and spy on the land to see whether the people are strong or weak; their land is good or bad; their cities have walls or just made up of camps; their inhabitants are rich or poor; and their land are covered with trees or not.”

At the time when the spies went into Canaan, it was grape season. The 12 spies went as far as the Wilderness of Zin and Rehob.

It was there that they saw the three giant descendants of the Anak, who were Ahimai, Sheshai, and Talmai.

Then they came to the valley of Eshcol and found many vine plants there. It was the grape season so the vine plants were heavy with cluster of grapes on them.

The 12 spies cut down one of the branches of the vine plant that is full of grape fruits.

The branch of grapes is so heavy that they have to carry it on a pole.

And so the place is called Eshcol because the 12 spies cut down the branch with one cluster of grapes at that place.

They also plucked some pomegranates and figs and took along with them back to their camp in Paran.

After forty days, the twelve spies finished spying on the land and returned to Moses. When the 12 spies returned to Paran, they showed the people the fruits.

The 12 spies said to the crowd, “The land of Canaan is a very fruitful land. However, the Anak lives there. The Anak are so huge but we are small like a grasshopper to them. The Amalekites dwell by the sea in Canaan.”

When the Israelites heard the report of the 12 spies, they grew afraid and dare not go up to Canaan.

Caleb trusted God. He quieted the people and said, “We don’t have to worry that the people there will overthrow us. God will fight for us and we can easily conquer them.”

But the Israelites don’t believe Caleb and they said to each other, “Let us choose a leader among us to lead us back to Egypt.”

Only Joshua and Caleb believe that God will help them to defeat and conquer the Canaanites. The Lord was very angry that the people did not want to listen to Him.

Moses cried out to the Lord and begged God to forgive the Israelites.

God listened to Moses’ prayer and spare the lives of the Israelites but He promised that the people above twenty years of age will never be able to enter Canaan.

The eleven spies whom Moses sent out brought bad report, so the Lord afflicted them with a plague and they died before Him. But Joshua and Caleb remained alive.

Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because Moses marry and Ethiopian woman. Miriam was jealous of Moses because God only speak through Moses to the people.

Aaron and Miriam thought that the Lord should also use them to speak to the people. Moses is a very humble man. In fact, Moses is the most humble man in the whole world.

Suddenly, God said, “All three of you, Moses, Miriam and Aaron come to the tabernacle at once!”

Moses, Miriam and Aaron obeyed the Lord and went to the tabernacle.

The Lord came down at the tabernacle and two pillar of cloud was over the tabernacle.

God called Miriam and Aaron to step forward. Miriam and Aaron went ahead.

Then God said, “Moses is my chosen prophet. I appeared to Moses in a vision and speak to him in dreams. Moses is very faithful to me. I speak with Moses face to face and tell him everything. Why then should you speak against my servant, Moses?”

Aaron turned toward Miriam and saw that she was all white and afflicted with leprosy.

Then Aaron said, “Oh, Lord! Please don’t punish us with this sin. Please don’t let Miriam die of leprosy.”

Moses cried out to the Lord, “Will Miriam not ashamed for seven days if her father spit on her face?”

The Lord listened to Moses’ prayer. Miriam was separated from the camp and stays outside for seven days.

After seven days, Miriam was restored back to normal and was allowed to go back into the camp.
