Wedding Banquet Parable

October 10, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

weddingbanquetparable

Jesus told the crowd and His disciples a wedding banquet parable.

Jesus said, “A king’s son is getting married. The king wants to hold a wedding banquet for his son so he sent his servants to call people who are invited by him to come to his son’s wedding banquet.

But they are busy with their own things and don’t want to go to the king’s son’s wedding banquet.

The king sent out the servants again to say the people whom he had invited, ‘I have already prepare the dinner for the wedding banquet. The choicest cattle are slaughtered and everything is ready. Please come and attend the wedding banquet.’

The servants did as the king told them but those who are invited don’t appreciate the king.

They were very irritated by the servants so they abuse the servants and murder them.

The king heard how the wedding guests he invited treated his servants. His anger aroused and he sent his armies to kill the murderers and bring the city down to ashes.

Then he sent his servants to get the common people who are in the streets to come to his son’s wedding banquet.

The servants did as the king told them.

They went into the streets and get as many people as possible to attend the king’s son’s wedding banquet. The people invited have good and bad.

When the king is at the wedding banquet, he saw some guests who is not wearing a wedding garment.

The king said the guests who did not put own a wedding garment, ’Why didn’t you wear a wedding garment to the wedding banquet?’ They couldn’t answer the king.

Then the king says to his servants,’ Tie them up and throw them into a place where there will always be crying and gnashing of teeth.’”

Jesus continued saying, “Many people are called to believe in Him, but only few will choose to believe in Him and receive salvation.”

Matthias Replaced Judas

October 10, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

Matthias Replaced Judas

After Jesus’ disciples saw Jesus ascend into the heaven, they went back to Jerusalem.

One day, Jesus’ disciples assembled together in a room upstairs to pray in united. Jesus’ mother, Mary and His brothers were also there.

The names of the disciples were Peter, James, John, Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James, and Simon, and Judas.

Then Peter stood up among the disciples and said, “Judas is no longer one of us. The Holy Spirit had spoken about this in the Scripture concerning Judas that he will lead the soldiers and high priests into the arrest of Jesus Christ.

Then Judas took the money the chief priest gave him and bought a field.

But he stumbled and fell down. His head hit the ground and he died. His intestines all spilled out so the field is called the Akel Dama which means the Field of Blood.

So therefore let us choose in the midst of us a disciple who had been following Jesus Christ from the day He was baptized by John, the Baptist to the day he ascended into heaven to replace Judas.”

They nominated Joseph and Matthias to replace the place of Judas.

And Peter prayed,”O, Lord, you can see through everyone’s heart and know what they are thinking. Please help us to decide which one of them should take part in this ministry to replace the apostleship of Judas.”

Then they cast lots and the lot fell on Matthias.

And so they chose Matthias to replace Judas’ apostleship and he joined the other eleven apostles of Jesus.

Paul in Lystra

Paul in Lystra

In Lystra, there once lived a crippled man who could not walk since he was born.

At that time, Paul happened to be in Lystra preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the people there. Barnabas was also there.
The crippled man heard the gospel that Paul preached. Paul saw that he has faith to be healed so he said, “Stand up with your two feet.”

The crippled man believed and he was healed. He stood up and started to jump.
When the people at Lystra saw what Paul had done that the crippled man could walk again, they thought Paul is the gods that have come down to them.

The people shouted in Lycaonian, “The gods have come to us through Paul.”
The people thought their god Hermes had come down in the form of Paul and Zeus in the form of Barnabas.

So they brought cattle, and garlands to the front of the city to offer a sacrifice before the people.
But when Paul and Barnabas heard about what the people think they are, they felt very upset and tore their clothes.
Paul and Barnabas cried out to the people, “People, we are just human. We are preaching to you that you should turn away from these worthless gods and come and worship the true living God who created the universe. God had left Himself good witness, for example, he sent down rain, and gave us four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter.”
But the Jews from Antioch and Iconium came and persuaded the people not to believe what Paul said.

Then the Jews stoned Paul. Thinking Paul was dead, they tugged him outside the city.

After the Jews had left, the disciples come to Paul and surrounded him and Paul got up and went into the city.

Paul and Barnabas departed to Derbe the next day.
After Paul had preached the gospel in Derbe, he went back to Lystra and strengthened the believers by encouraging them to continue in the faith.

Philip And Ethiopian Eunuch

philipandethiopianeunuch

An angel said to Philip, “Go down the road that is going toward Gaza.”

Philip obeyed the angel and he walked down the road and he saw an Ethiopian eunuch.

The Ethiopian eunuch was the high official of Queen Candace of Ethiopia who had put him in charge of all her possessions.

The Ethiopian eunuch was sitting in his chariot and holding the scripture of Isaiah. He read it but he could not understand what it means.

Philip came up to the Ethiopian eunuch and said to him, “Do you understand the scripture that you are reading?”

The Ethiopian eunuch said, “I don’t understand.” Then the Ethiopian eunuch invited Philip to come and sit with him in his chariot.

The part of the Scripture where the Ethiopian eunuch was reading is:

“In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? For his life is taken from the earth.” (King James Version. Acts 8:33)

The Ethiopian eunuch said, “Who is the scripture referring to?” So Philip began to preach Jesus Christ to the Ethiopian eunuch.

As the chariot traveled along the road, it came to a place where there is an oasis.

The Ethiopian eunuch said, “Look, there is an oasis with water. Please baptize me here.”

Philip said, “If you believe Jesus Christ with all you heart, you can be saved.”

The Ethiopian eunuch answered, “I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Savior.”

The Ethiopian eunuch stopped the chariot. Then Philip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch in the oasis.

After the Ethiopian eunuch got out of the water, the Holy Spirit led him away to other places.

Philip went on his way, praising the Lord that the Ethiopian eunuch had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Story of Judging

October 7, 2013 by Admin-FSN 2 Comments

storyofjudging

Jesus was teaching to the crowd that gathered around him.

Jesus said, “Don’t judge anyone so that you will not be judged by other people. This is because whatever judgment you brought against people, you will be judged back the same way.”

Jesus continued, “Don’t say to your brother, ’Let me help you to remove the speck of wood in your eye’. You hypocrite! First remove the big plank in your eyes and then you will be able to see clearly to remove the speck of wood that is in your brother’s eye.”

Jesus is telling us that we should not always tend to point out the faults of other people. We should look at ourselves and we will find that we are sinners too.

Therefore do not judge anyone because people may use your weak point and make the judgment back at you.

We should not judge people with the same sin that we accept and practice every day.

We should first look into ourselves and correct all the sins in us, then we will have the power to rightly make judgment on other people’s faults and help them.

Through this story, Jesus also is telling us to love our neighbors with charity. God wants us to live a life of genuine charity towards our neighbors.

We must express our affection and charity towards our neighbors sincerely and not just always wanting to point out their faults.

Jesus wants us to show sincere good will to our neighbors.
