Acts 20:1 – 16

After the riot against Paul at Athens had ended, Paul departed for Macedonia.

Paul stayed there for three months and preached the Word of God in that region.

When the Jews make plan to kill Paul, Paul returned through Macedonia. After that, they sailed to Troas.

When everyone gather together to eat bread, Paul continued to preach to them until very late at midnight at the room upstairs.

Lots of lamps were lighted at the place where the disciples had assembled and Paul was preaching.

There was a young man named Eutychus who was sitting at the window sill.

While Paul was preaching to the people, Eutychus fell asleep and dropped down from the third story and died.

But Paul went down stairs and brought Eutychus back to life. The people were very happy that Paul saved Eutychus’ life.

When Paul came up; he ate some bread and continue to preach until dawn. Then he departed them.

At this time, Silas and Timothy wanted to sail to Assos but Paul told them that he wanted to walk to that place.

So Silas and Timothy sailed to Assos and Paul traveled there by foot.

When Paul arrives at Assos, he went onboard the ship with Silas and Timothy and sailed to Mitylene and then to Chios and Samos and finally they put up the night at Trogyllium for a while.

After that, they sailed to Miletus, rushing to Jerusalem as soon as possible so that Paul could be there at the Day of Pentecost.

Wheat and the Tares Parable

October 18, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

Matthew 13:24-30

Jesus says to the people that were gathered around Him, “A farmer planted a good seed in the soil.

While his workers are sleeping, the enemies come into the farmer’s field and sow the seeds of the tares among the wheat in the soil.

When the wheat grows up, the tares also grow up among the wheat.

The workers of the farmers said to the farmer, ‘Didn’t we planted good seed in the field? Where does all these tares come from? Who had sowed these tares in our field?’

He answered, ‘It must be an enemy that did this.’

They workers said, ‘Should we go and pull out the tares from among the wheat?’

But he said, ‘Don’t do that. Let the wheat and the tares both grow together until they are ready for harvest. Then you can pull out the tares from among the wheat and gather in the harvest of the wheat into my barn.’”

After the crowd had left Jesus, Jesus returned to the place he was staying with His disciples.

His disciples asked Him, “Can you explain to us the wheat and the tares parable?”

Jesus answered them, “The Son of Man is the farmer who sows good seeds in the world.

The field is the world.

The tares are the children of the devil.

The enemy who sows the seeds of the tares is the devil, Satan.

The reapers at the time of the harvest are the angels.

During the end time, the angel will throw the people who practice paganism and lawlessness into the furnace of the fire in hell where there will only be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

But the righteous will be saved and shine like the sun in the kingdom of heaven.”

Fig Tree Bible Story

October 18, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

Matthew 24:32-34

One morning, as Jesus was going back to Bethlehem, He felt very hungry.

Jesus saw a fig tree that grew by the road side.

Jesus came to the fig tree so that He can pluck some fruits from the fig tree and eats and filled his hunger. But Jesus couldn’t find any figs on the fig tree.

Jesus was very angry and He said to the fig tree, “May no fruit ever bear on you anymore.”

The next day, when Jesus and his disciples passed by the same fig tree that was on the road side, they noticed that the fig tree is withered. The fig tree was dried up from the roots.

Peter remembered what Jesus said to the fig tree and says, “Teacher, Look! The fig tree that you cursed yesterday is withered and is now dried up from its roots. ”

Then Jesus answered them, “I tell you if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can tell this mountain to jump into the sea and the mountain will obey you and removed itself and jump into the sea. If you believe, whatever things you pray, you will get what you want.”

God created the fig tree so that it produces fruits for people to eat. On arriving at the fig tree, Jesus found that there was no fruit on it and so He cursed the tree.

Christians must help themselves to grow as well as helping others to grow and be more and more like Jesus in their attitudes and behavior.

Jesus said He will root up the believer who does not produce any fruits and serve Him and throw them into a place where there will be gnashing of teeth.

tenvirginsstory

Matthew 25:1-13

One day, Jesus told the people the story of the ten virgins.

Jesus said, “There are ten virgins who take their lamps to go out and meet their bridegroom.

In case the lamps go off during the night, five of the virgins took oil with them to refuel the lamp. But the other five virgins didn’t take any oil with them while waiting for the bridegrooms to arrive.

While waiting for the bridegrooms to come, the brides fell asleep.

Suddenly, someone cried out,’ The bridegroom has arrived.’ When the ten virgins heard it, they quickly awoke from their slumber and go out to meet the bridegroom.

On the way, the lamp of five of the virgins becomes dimmer and dimmer and is going off, so they says to the five virgins who took oil with them,’ Please gives us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’

The five virgins who are wise says,’ Go out into the streets to buy oil for your lamps. The oil we have is just enough to keep our lamp burning.’

So, the five foolish virgins went out to buy oils for their lamps. But when they returned, they found the door is already shut.

The five foolish virgins knocks on the door and says,’ Lord, Lord, it’s us.’

But I will say to them,’ Go away. I don’t know who you are.’

Therefore you should always keep watch because you will never know when the son of Man will comes. The son of Man can come at anytime.”

Matthew 9:9-13; Mark 2:13-17; Luke 5:27-32

One day, Jesus was outside with his disciples when he saw a tax collector sitting at the tax booth. The name of the tax collector is Levi.

Jesus said to Levi, “Come and follow me.”

When Levi heard what Jesus said to him, he immediately stands up and left the tax booth and followed Jesus and his named was changed to Matthew.

Then Levi gave a feast at his home. Many tax collectors were invited too Levi’s feast.

When the Pharisees saw Jesus’ disciples, they said, “Why do you eat with the tax collectors who are sinners?”

Jesus said, “Only people who are ill need to see the doctor. I have come to save the sinners and not the righteous.”

Then the Pharisees said, “Why does John’s disciples often fast and pray but your disciples often eat and drink like a glutton.”

Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast when he is with them. But the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them and there will be no more eating and drinking.”

Then Jesus told them a parable, “No one takes a cloth from a new garment to patch an old dress; and no one take a cloth from an old garment to patch a new dress because they will never match; No one will ever put new wine into old wine skin; likewise no one will put old wine into new wine skin; and no one who tasted old wine wants to drink the new wine.”

Laborers in the Vineyard Parable

October 17, 2013 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

laborersinvineyardparable

Matthew 20:1-16

On a day, Jesus told his disciples a parable about the laborers in the vineyard.

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is like an owner of the vineyard who went out to hire laborers to work in his vineyard.

In the morning, he went out to find someone who would be willing to work in his vineyard for one denarius a day.

About 3 o’clock in the afternoon, he went out again to hire some more people to work in his vineyard. He saw some people standing at the marketplace and he hired them.

At 6’ o clock and 9 o’ clock, he went to the marketplace to search for still more people to work at his vineyard.

At eleven o’ clock, he found some people are still standing at the marketplace and he hired them.

When evening come, the owner of the vineyard calls in his servant and tell him to pay the workers their wages.

All the workers from the first to the last one get one denarius for their wages.

So they complained to the owner of the vineyard, ‘Why did you pay us all the same amount of money? We work for more hours. And those whom you hired last and worked for only one hour get one denarius as their wages too. It is unfair.’

The owner of the vineyard replied, ‘Didn’t you agreed to work for me for one denarius? What is it to you if I wish to give the last man I hired for one denarius?’

So the last will be the first. Likewise, the first will be the last.”
