Bible Story of Abraham and Sarah

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

It came to pass that Sarah had a baby boy just as God had promised. Abraham held a great feast on the day Isaac is weaned.

Sarah saw the son of Hagar, Ishmael and was very unpleased. Sarah told Abraham, “Get rid of Hagar and her son, Ishmael, for Isaac will be the heir and not Ishmael.”

Abraham felt unhappy with what Sarah had said because Ishmael is his son. But God told Abraham,” Listen to what your wife, Sarah said and send the boy Ishmael away. Do not worry about Ishmael. I will also make Ishmael into a nation because he is your son.”

Early the next morning, Abraham woke up and got some bread together with a skin of water and set it upon Hagar’s shoulder.  Then Hagar departed and left Abraham. Hagar wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba.

The water Abraham gave Hagar was all gone. Hagar didn’t know what to do so she put her son, Ishmael in a bush. Then Hagar sat down at a distance and cry because she did not want to see her son die.

God heard the voice of the boy Ishmael. Then the angel of the Lord said, “What is your problem Hagar? Don’t worry about not having food, because God had heard the voice of the boy and know where he is.”

God opened Hagar’s eye and Hagar saw a well of water. Hagar was so happy. She went to filled the skin of water and give it to Ishmael.

God was with Ishmael. When Ishmael grew up, he became an archer. Ishmael stayed in the Wilderness of Paran.  His mother, Hagar, get a wife from Egypt for him.

Bible Story of Abraham and Abimelech

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

One day, Abraham moved his tent to Gerar. Abraham said of Sarah, “She is my sister,” And King Abimelech commanded Sarah to him.

But God appeared in a dream to Abimelech, “You are a dead man for taking Sarah as your wife because Sarah is Abraham’s wife.” Abimelech was panicked and said, “Lord, I didn’t know that Sarah is Abraham’s wife because Abraham told me she is his sister.

Sarah even told me that Abraham is his brother.” God replied, “I know that you did not purposely do it so I didn’t let you touch her. Now stop sinning against Me, and return Sarah to Abraham.

Abraham is a prophet and he will pray for you so that I will restore your household.”

So Abimelech woke up early in the morning, and he called for Abraham.  Abimelech said, “What have you done? Why didn’t you tell me that Sarah is your wife but instead you told me that she is your sister,” Abraham replied,” I was afraid of what you will do to me. Sarah is the daughter of my father. She is my half sister anyway.”

Then Abimelech took sheep, cattle, and servants and gave them to Abraham. Abimelech told Abraham that he can live anywhere in his territory.  Abimelech also give Sarah 1000 silver pieces to vindicate her and him before everyone that was present.

Abraham prayed for Abimelech and God restored the household of Abimelech. Previously, God had closed the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

Bible Story of Lot and His Daughters

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

After God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his two daughters came out of the small town called Zoar and went to live in a nearby cave. Now the two daughters of Lot were without children.

One day, the older daughter said to the younger daughter, “Our father is already old and there is no man in this remote area that we could take as our husband. We will have no children. Let us make our father get drunk with wine and lie with him to preserve our family lineage.”

So they got their father drunk with wine that night. And Lot’s oldest daughter went in to lay with her father. Lot was so drunk that he didn’t know when she lay down and arose.

The next day, Lot’s older daughter told the younger daughter, “I slept with our father last night. Now it is your turn to go in and lay with him tonight so that we may have descendants to preserve our family lineage.”

And so the two daughters of Lot made their father drink wine that night. This time, Lot’s younger daughter went in to lay with him. Again, Lot was too drunk to realize when she lay down and arose.

Thus, Lot’s daughters became pregnant through their father. The older daughter gave birth to a son and called him Moab. Her son Moab is the father of the Moabites. The younger daughter also gave birth to a son. She named him Ben-Ammi. Ben-Ammi is the father of the Ammonites.

Story of Sodom and Gomorrah

The people of Sodom and Gomorrah are extremely sinful against the Lord. The cries against the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah to God is so great that God decided to come down and see if this is true.

While the Lord was heading towards Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham stood still before the Lord. Abraham bargained with the Lord to spare the lives of the righteous men who lives in the city.

When the two angels of God enter the city of Sodom, Lot who was sitting at the entrance gate stood up to greet them.

Lot welcomed the two angels into his home and asked if he could wash their feet.

The two angels refused to spend the night at Lot’s home but Lot insisted. Lot made a feast and the two angels sat down and eat with them.

Before they went to bed, all the inhabitants of the city had surrounded Lot’s home. They demanded that Lot bring the two men out so they could lay with them.

Lot wanted to exchange his daughter in return for the two men but the villagers refused.

They pressured Lot and was about to break the door when the two men came out and pull Lot into the house.

The angels urged Lord, saying, “Get up quickly. Take your wife and two daughters and fled the city because the Lord is going to destroy it now. Flee for your life and don’t turn your head and look back or you will be destroyed.”

Lot felt that he couldn’t make it to the mountains and begged the angels to spare his lives so that he can make his escape to the nearest city. The city is called Zoar.

While making their escape to the small town, Lot’s wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt.

After Lot arrived safely at Zoar with his two daughters, God rained down brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah.

Early in the morning, Abraham woke up and he looked down to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Abraham saw that everything was burnt down and there was a smoke of the furnace that went up from the cities.

Bible Story of Hagar

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN 1 Comment

Now, Sarah and Abraham were very old and they had no children. Sarah had a maidservant named Hagar.

One day, Sarah told Abraham, “I cannot have children so why don’t you go and lay with my maidservant, Hagar so that I can have children through her,”

Abraham listened to his wife, Sarah and slept with Hagar. Later, Hagar became pregnant.

When Hagar saw that she was pregnant, she began to despise her master Sarah.

Sarah was upset about it and said to Abraham, “I gave Hagar to you and now Hagar is despising me,”

Abraham replied, “Hagar is your maidservant so do anything you want to do to her,” Sarah treated Hagar cruelly and Hagar fled from her.

The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a well, and he said, “Hagar, where are you from and where are you going?”

Hagar replied, “I am running away from my master Sarah,”

The angel of the Lord said, “Go back and commit yourself to your master Sarah. I will bless you so that your descendants will be numerous,”

The angel of the Lord told Hagar that his son will be called Ishmael because the Lord has heard her difficulty.

The angel of the Lord also told Hagar that her son Ishmael will be a wild man. So Hagar called the angel of the Lord who speaks to her “You Are the God Who Sees” and the well Beer-Lahai-Roi.

Hagar went back to her master Sarah. She bore a son and she called him Ishmael.

Abraham was eighty six years old when Ishmael was born to him.

The Covenant between God and Abraham

September 28, 2012 by Admin-FSN Leave a Comment

At the time when God spoke to Abraham about His promises, Abraham was very old and he has no children.

Abraham told God, “I don’t have any child and I only have a heir of my possessions who is my faithful servant named Eliezer from Damascus,”

God told Abraham, “Eliezer will not be your heir but a son of your own will be the heir of your possessions,” Abraham believed in what God said and God accredited it as righteousness.

To prove to Abraham his promises, God said to Abraham, “Bring me a 3 years old heifer, a 3 years old female goat, a 3 years old ram, a turtledove, and a pigeon,”

Abraham obeyed God and brought them all before God.

Abraham cut all the offerings in half except the bird. Then Abraham put the halves of the offerings that he had cut opposite each other.

When the vultures came down to peck on the flesh, Abraham drove them away.

As the sun was setting, Abraham began to fell asleep.  It was getting dark and there was a smoking oven and flaming torch that go between the pieces of offerings.

In Abraham’s dream, a voice from God spoke, “Your descendants will be in Egypt for 400 years. After 400 years, they will come out of Egypt with great possession. You will die at a ripe old age. After four generation had passed, your descendants will return here to claim the Promised Land because the Amorites haven’t sin enough yet.”
